Psychoanalysis - Psychotherapy
When dealing with certain symptoms or difficulties on your own (and people you're close with) doesn't seem to work out, you can consider engaging in a "talking cure". Talking and being listened to in a specific way can open up new ways to bring about change in the difficulties you have been experiencing. This specific approach is elucidated during the first sessions.
The most important features of this approach are the possibility to talk freely, the willingness to take time and the specific way to search for the personal history and the dynamics from which the symptoms and difficulties have arisen. This perspective enables us to create a symbolic space in which important life issues can be explored. Indeed, in my experience, the talking cure cannot be reduced to a simple way to treat symptoms as independent phenomena, because symptoms and difficulties are intertwined with personal choices in important domains of our lifes.
